After receiving a cancer diagnosis, I was devastated at first as I am a single parent and the thought of not being there for my daughter was worse than thinking about what surgery lay ahead of me. I was angry also as just two weeks earlier had just found out I had passed my nursing degree. Now though I have learned to take one day at a time and stop worrying about the future so much. I just enjoy time now whilst I am fit and healthy.
My advice to others would be don’t read too much on the internet as each case is different and you will only scare yourself, enjoy life as we are only here once and talk about your feelings – don’t let things build up.

I was informed that I had pseudomyxoma perintonei (the nurse had to write it down for me) and they were referring me to The Christie specialist cancer hospital in Manchester.
The disease was actually growing out of my belly button!
I do an exercise class and I was having trouble keeping up and my belly was growing with no changes to my diet. In my head, I was thinking that was just signs of perimenopause and that was my new figure. Some women just have a muffin top at 44, right? I was also going to the restroom for frequent urination. I was under the care of a urologist for that at the time of my diagnosis with pseudomyxoma peritonei or PMP.
I found out I had an appendix tumour during my c-section
Oh, there’s an issue with your appendix. We’ll need to get another surgeon across to remove your appendix. There seems to be a tumour-like growth on your appendix and there is mucous leaking around your abdomen.”
My spouse susmita diagnosed with PMP, undergone CRS and hipec. Now better, but surrounded with fear. Want to know more on this
