I was lucky enough to secure a place at this year’s Primary Care Conference hosted by Macmillan. This gave me the opportunity to attend workshops attended by GPs, Physios, nutritionists, etc.

During one of the workshops, I was able to speak of my struggles with diet and nutrition from a patient perspective. Following this was approached by one of the nutritionists who requested my contact details and has later added a link to us on her website.

All the medical professionals in attendance at the conference highlighted the importance of empowering patients and listening to their needs, a concept that I found extremely refreshing. If more health care providers had the same stance on this and we as patients saw this concept in practice, I feel the whole cancer experience would be much easier to manage.
