Online Community

Whilst we understand that Facebook is not to everyone's taste, we have found it to be a useful forum for our online family.  Our Facebook group is a secret group - only fellow members can see posts and see who is a member.  Our Facebook page is publicly viewable.

Our Facebook group has been set up for survivors and patients to communicate together. It is a secret group; your privacy will be respected, only fellow members will be able to see that you are a member of the group or to read your posts.

All members either have PMP, appendix cancer or another peritoneal cancer or are care givers.  The group offers much needed support and information from people who understand just what we are going though!  This group is not run by medical professionals but by patients and carers from all over the world.  It is a place to share stories, information and support.

We see our group as a safe secure platform in which to share diagnosis, treatment options, support, the highs, the lows and all bits in between. The group will remain secret to maintain the confidentiality of all group members.

To join the group, either send a message to this profile on Facebook http://j.mp/fbpmpadmin or email facebookadmin@pseudomyxomasurvivor.org (and include a link to your Facebook profile) with a brief explanation of why you would like to join. The administrators should contact you within 48 hours.

Our page is for supporters of Pseudomyxoma Survivor to keep up to date with events and see our photo gallery from our events.  This is completely separate from the group above.

As survivors and carers, information is from our perspective - we are not health care professionals. We are all individuals, everyone is different. We recommend that you take advice from your doctors for specific information. Any medical questions arising as a direct result of reading posts should be directed to your PMP specialists as they are the experts.

Members of the group and visitors to our page should exercise common sense and courtesy in submitting comments or materials for posting. Inappropriate Submissions may be removed by the administrators.  Inappropriate Submissions would include, for example, comments or materials that make false or defamatory statements about others, are obscene, vulgar, abusive, hateful or threatening; harass or discriminate on the basis of race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference or other factors or are invasive of the privacy rights of others (e.g., by including addresses, phone numbers or other personal information about third persons without their consent).

Please be respectful that the group is predominantly to offer support, practical and emotional support. It represents members from all walks of life and from all corners of the world, covering many different characters, belief systems and ethnicities and  therefore we kindly ask that the topic be kept to cancer and the support of the group and not swayed towards any religious persuasions.
