It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Angela Brook. Angela dedicated over 12 years to running Pseudomyxoma Survivor, and we have been privileged to have her serve as our Trustee.
As a patient of pseudomyxoma peritonei herself, Angela devoted her free time to developing this website, creating and implementing the necessary systems and procedures to manage a small charity, and supporting countless patients over the years. She was a true friend to many patients and their caregivers, guiding them through unfamiliar challenges with genuine compassion and insight.
Raised in London, she was the youngest of 4 children. She took great pride in her Irish heritage, a potato farl was her breakfast of choice. She loved her cats, and had 5 of them at one point. One even has its own steps to assist getting on and off the sofa.
During her career, she worked as a team leader and IT systems specialist for many years, travelling the world through her work. She met her husband Bill at university, she was 18 he was 20. Bill, who stood by her side throughout her illness, shared this with us, “I know that she valued the people in the support group and cared deeply about the causes the charity supported. She was actively involved in pathology and research, as well as establishing the buddy system.”
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bill, her steadfast partner and closest friend, and to her children, Connor and Victoria.
Sean Ferrer Hepburn, our Patron, said “we have lost a shining light”.
This charity was incredibly meaningful to Angela, and we encourage everyone to support it in her memory, whether by helping with administrative tasks, serving as a moderator or trustee, or any other way you can contribute. Every little bit makes a significant impact. Rest assured, the charity remains in capable hands with the current Trustees.
Running a charity can be challenging, as we witness life and death in many forms. We must prioritise our mental health and not allow everything to weigh too heavily on us. However, we are human, and on a personal note, Angela and I had an understanding that when things became overwhelming, and we needed time to regroup— we would say “this one hurts.” This one hurts Angela x.
To my truly beautiful and wonderful friend Angela, I am incredibly fortunate to have known you.

Chair, Pseudomyxoma Survivor
I am so saddened by Angela’s passing and will be grateful to her for showing me kindness and generosity of time, during my early years working for the same organisation. She always had a wide smile for all who had the priviledge to know her. Her work and dedication as a Trustee for PMP, does not suprise me in the slightest … and I know her impact on others will have been significant, as it was on me and my family. My thoughts now are for Bill and the family, to which we send our sincere condolences.
