I know for some doctors it becomes part of the job, but others continue to feel human emotions. My doctor was shaking when he came out of my surgery (“routine hysterectomy”) to tell my husband I had cancer. He told me in my room in the hospital, but I was too hysterical to know how he told me. There isn’t a gentle way.
His staff later told me that, according to his wife, he went home and cried. I know that his whole office was shaken by my diagnosis. The doctor who found my cancer was my gynaecologist and it was a total shock.
