We were invited by our patron, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, to the VIP opening reception of the Intimate Audrey exhibition. Intimate Audrey is an exhibition on the life of Audrey Hepburn created by her son, Sean, to celebrate her 90th birthday anniversary in her birth town of Brussels. The exhibition is an intimate collection of photographs and artefacts from Audrey’s life. We started with photographs of Audrey’s family tree and moved on to photos of her as a young girl. What struck us both was the sheer number of images even at such an early age. It was fascinating to see so many pictures of her as a dancer and poignant to see her ballet shoes. Moving on through her early career to meeting Sean’s father, Mel Ferrer, through Sean’s early life to Audrey’s humanitarian work, this is very much a look at someone who was a wife, mother and lover of life much more than an icon. It’s well worth a look and if it doesn’t touch you in some way, we’d be very much surprised. – Susan and Angela All of the profits from the exhibition will go to EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe and the Brugmann and Bordet hospitals in Brussels.
