Media Communications Volunteer needed

Pseudomyxoma Survivor is a very small, patient- and caregiver-led charity run entirely by volunteers. We need help from a willing volunteer to join us who is able to run our media communications creating fantastic positive energy about the charity and raising awareness of pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) and appendix cancer primarily through placing patient and caregiver stories in the media.

This voluntary role is what you make it, offering great flexibility to fit around your time and you will mostly manage your own workload from home. It is a requirement that you are available for at least some time during standard UK office hours. There is the opportunity to extend the role into keeping the community up to date with stories from the national and international media as well as contributing to our newsletter with our events and updates.

The role is varied but will typically involve supporting others to contribute copy for national and international media. In addition, if you can contribute to writing and editing materials, manage the circulation of information to reach new audiences, that’s even better. We’re very flexible about the hours and days you volunteer because we understand that you have other commitments. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a very small charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones.

You’ll have an interest in Pseudomyxoma Survivor and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values. You will understand the needs of people affected by PMP and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be comfortable using the internet and email, be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken English and understand the importance of keeping people’s personal data safe.

If this sounds like you, then email us ([email protected]) or message us on social media and we’ll send you an application form.
