One of the connections we have made this year is with National Voices, the coalition of charities that stands for people being in control of their health and care. National Voice has drawn our attention to a new report published by Cancer Research UK, ‘Securing a cancer workforce for the best outcomes’. The report estimates that key staff numbers will have to double by 2027, just to meet demand from the increasing number of people diagnosed with cancer. Alongside this, they are encouraging people to send a message to Matt Hancock, the Secretary of State for Health asking him to train and employ more diagnostic staff.
