The team at St. Gallen have been treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) and appendix cancer patients with cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC since 1991. Between 20 and 30 patients per year with appendix cancer and PMP are treated. Additionally, approximately 40 patients with other types of peritoneal malignancies are treated per year with cytoreductive surgery only (without HIPEC).
